Maya Makarem is a senior high distinction business student with an emphasis in Banking and Finance. She has been active in LAU’s simulation programs ever since she was a Middle School delegate in GC LAU MUN, winning both a diplomacy award and a Secretary-General award in High School. She has served as an MUN and MAL trainer for the past two years and has also been part of the LAU delegation to the 2017 Harvard World MUN Conference, as well as a chair at the 2018 Global Classrooms International Middle School MUN Conference in New York. She has also taken on the role as chief executive officer for an INJAZ student-lead company of thirty individuals as well as that of a Judges’ coordinator at the 2018 LAU Hult Prize Competition, and a Public Information and Media coordinator at the All Girls Code.
She is someone who believes firmly in the fight for equality, the power of education, and the need for compassion. Maya will humbly be serving as this year’s Secretary-General for the 8th LAU Model Arab League.
